We just hit $3,695.50!

Thank you to everyone who has donated!

In the past week alone, we made over $1,000. The girls worked tirelessly to earn almost $500 at their sandwich and baked goods sale on Monday at the Southend Hat Tournament and the rest came from amazing donors like you.

Please help us get to $5,000 in the next two and a half weeks! The generosity and support of the Ultimate community for this program has been incredible to witness. THANK YOU!

Halfway there!

Hello!

Last Saturday, we fundraised at the Seattle Rainmakers vs. Portland Stags MLU preseason opener! Braving the rain and wind, our girls raised $923 with bake sale profits and kind donations. We also played mini during half-time.

Although the paypal widget's progress bar seems to have stalled (donations are still coming through fine), we have fundraised over $2,500 so far and need your help meeting our $5,000 goal!

Thanks to all who have donated. We’re Amherst-bound in three weeks!

We're going to Amherst!

Hello all!

The incredible girls of the Seattle Southend are going to the Amherst Invitational in Massachusetts this year on May 4-5, and we need your help to get there.

As you know, the Seattle Southend is composed of communities of color disproportionately impacted by racism and poverty. At the schools these girls attend, 95% of the student body consists of students of color. 69% of students also qualify for free or reduced priced meals.

As such, cost is a significant barrier for our team, and we want to do everything we can to make it possible for ALL of our players to join us. The trip will cost $450 per player and we intend on raising $5,000 online and fundraising for the remaining $3,100 through hat tournaments, bake sales, and individual endeavors. As a club sport, we also don't have access to many of the school supports and resources available to other programs, which means that we are doing all of the fundraising on our own.

The majority of our players have never been to the East Coast and are ecstatic to have the opportunity to. Half of our team consists of a dedicated group of seniors who have been with the team since their freshman year. The remaining half are college-bound scholars looking to explore beyond the Pacific Northwest. We deliberated significantly over whether or not this trip and this year was right for us, but we're going for it! This will be our first overnight trip out of the Pacific Northwest and we will celebrate the incredible growth of this program over the past three years as well as the amazing crew of seniors who have brought us this far.

Also note that many of our players hail from strong Southend middle school ultimate teams (Aki Kurose and Asa Mercer) and volunteer for their old schools’ teams in their spare time. A majority of our girls are also part of the All Girl Everything Ultimate Program and enjoy combating social injustices while teaching elementary-aged children how to play ultimate.

Please join us in celebrating the 2013 season and our graduating class! 100% of donations will go to making this trip accessible to all of our players. Please donate via our PayPal widget on the right side of the page.

Oh, and don't forget to spread the word!
